Wedding Paternoster, Natural Pearls & Swarovski Crystals, Credo Cross, White Tassel
Beautiful wedding rosary in the style of Renaissance paternosters for wealthy women at Court. My original design for this rosary incorporates design elements from the Middle Ages, recreated with luxurious white freshwater pearls, ornate cloisonne beads and Swarovski crystals.
The pearls and crystals are hand-linked with silver rosary wire, a style that became increasingly popular for making rosaries towards the end of the renaissance period. The pearls are quite large, between 10mm and 15mm long. In the loop of 10 Ave beads, each pearl is separated with a faceted Swarovski crystal, giving pretty sparkle in the light.
The loop meets at a large filigree cloisonne bead, hand-enameled in blue & green I've made a credo cross with pearls, Swarovski crystals and a matching cloissone center, with dangling crystals on each side. These early styles of cross were named "credo crosses" as the Apostles creed was traditionally recited on thm.
The paternoster ends with a gorgeous pure white silky tassel, which was a very popular rosary embellishment throughout the Middle Ages.
Length when hanging: 40cm / 15.75 inches;
Tassel: 8cm / 3 inches long.
A paternoster rosary like this would have been carried over the bride's forearm, or attached by a brooch to her wedding gown or cloak.
My paternosters are designed to bring the beautiful elements of historic rosaries into today's prayer life again to bring a connection with the prayers of the faithful through the centuries.
This unique paternoster comes in a handmade renaissance-style wedding pouch to keep it in.
