Stella Maris 6 Decade Rosary, Our Lady Star of the Sea
Stella Maris - Our Lady Star of the Sea - is one of the Virgin Mary's titles, revealing her as a sign of hope and a guiding star for Christians. I've made this rosary with 6 decades of Ave beads and 7 Paters, a layout often called the Brigittine rosary or Carmelite rosary.
This handmade Catholic rosary has beautiful 6mm Swarovski pearl Ave beads in an iridescent deep blue color that shimmer in the light. The Pater beads are ornate bronze saucer beads, finished with sparkling blue Swarovski crystals & wire-wrapping.
The special center medal is a bronze image of Mary, Our Lady of Grace. The rosary is completed with a beautiful bronze medal of Stella Maris hanging alongside a small "grapes & vine" style crucifix.
The beads are linked into the rosary by hand with bronze rosary wire which will last for many years of prayer & is covered by my lifetime guarantee. It is reasonably lightweight with smaller beads than some of my rosaries, and it flows smoothly through your hands as you pray the rosary.
Under the name Stella Maris, the Virgin Mary is believed to intercede as a guiding light for Christians, in particular a light and protector for those who travel or seek their livelihoods on the sea. This would also be a lovely wedding rosary for anyone traveling or marrying near the sea, or with a special affinity for the oceans of the world.
Length from mid-back to end of cross: 54cm / 21.25 inches.
The Brigittine and Carmelite rosaries are similar to the Dominican rosary however they each have six decades instead of five. The 7 Pater beads honor the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the 63 Ave Maria beads commemorate the sixty-three years it is believed the Blessed Mother lived on this earth before her Assumption.
A lovely rosary for personal use or for gifting, it comes in a handmade (by me) textile rosary pouch to keep it in, and will be attractively wrapped.
