St Stephen Pocket Rosary Chaplet
This pocket rosary of Saint Stephen is made with one decade of 8mm round brecciated jasper beads, and a single 10mm jasper bead for the Our Father in the front. These natural stone beads represent that St Stephen was martyred by stoning, but with the rocks turned into beautiful beads. The larger bead is finished with tiny crystals whose sparkle represents the light of Stephen's faith.
Stephen became the first Christian martyr when he was stoned to death for his faith in Jesus Christ. St Stephen is the patron saint of stonemasons, casket makers, horses, deacons and those suffering from headaches.
The decade loop meets at a center ring stamped with the word "COURAGE", and a medal of Saint Stephen hangs there. The rosary is finished with a contemporary style crucifix with good detail, made with nickle and lead free pewter.
Stephen is venerated as a saint in the Catholic, Anglican and Lutheran churches. Stephen's name means "crown", and he was the first disciple of Jesus to receive the martyr's crown. Stephen was a deacon in the early Christian church. The apostles had found that they needed helpers to look after the care of the widows and the poor so they ordained seven deacons, and Stephen is the most famous of these. God worked many miracles through St Stephen and he spoke with much wisdom and grace.
