St Stephen Niner Chaplet Rosary - First Christian Martyr
The niner chaplet is a great small rosary for today's busy life, easily slipped into a pocket or purse to carry with you. It is used with well-known & easily remembered prayers together with a petition to the saint - Saint Stephen features in this niner.
Stephen became the first Christian martyr when he was stoned to death for his faith in Jesus Christ, professing his faith until the end. St Stephen is the patron saint of stonemasons, casket makers, horses, deacons and those suffering from headaches.
The traditional layouts of beads has 3 groups of 3 in a straight line. I've used stamped pewter rings to separate the hand-linked beads, with the words "Faith Hope Love" on one and "Strength" on the other. At one end is the medal of St Stephen, and at the other is a silver pewter crucifix. The beads are Czech glass, each bead made to resemble a rock, used in remembrance of Stephen's faith and death.
Length: 31cm (12.25 inches)
Beads:10mm Czech glass
Medal: 2.5cm (1 inch)
Crucifix: 4cm (1.6 inches).
(Please NOTE that the style of crucifix may vary slightly from the one in the photos).
Stephen is venerated as a saint in the Catholic, Anglican and Lutheran churches. Stephen's name means "crown", and he was the first disciple of Jesus to receive the martyr's crown. Stephen was a deacon in the early Christian church.
The apostles had found that they needed helpers to look after the care of the widows and the poor so they ordained seven deacons: Stephen is the most famous of these. God worked many miracles through St Stephen and he spoke with much wisdom and grace.
This chaplet is lightweight and compact, and well-made for rugged hands. It would make a thoughtful gift, and comes attractively wrapped.
