St Stephen Medal - First Christian Martyr

Saint Stephen nickle and lead free pewter with lightly oxidised finish to show up the detail.

Stephen's name means "crown," and he was the first disciple of Jesus to receive the martyr's crown. God worked many miracles through St. Stephen and he spoke with such wisdom and grace many of his hearers became followers of Jesus. Angered by his teachings, the authorities had him put to death by stoning and he became the first Christian martyr.

St Stephen is the patron saint of stonemasons, casket makers, horses and deacons. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran and Orthodox churches.
