St Raymond Nonnatus Niner Chaplet Rosary
This small rosary of St Raymond Nonnatus is known as a "niner", taking its name from the fact it has only 9 beads which are assigned easily remembered prayers. Many convents and monasteries created niners for most of the saints, which they sold as a way of generating income. They are a great wee set of prayer beads for today's busy lifestyle too.
This St Raymond Nonnatus chaplet is made with 8mm round white howlite stone beads in the 3 groups of 3 prayer beads, with a medal of St Raymond at one end and a silver pewter crucifix at the other. Raymond is the patron saint of childbirth, midwives, children, pregnant women, obstetricians, falsely accused people and priests - especially those who want to protect the secrecy of confession.
A traditional way to use these beads is to start at the medal, invoking the help of the saint and conclude on the crucifix by saying the Apostles Creed, with 3 sets of Hail Mary prayers in between. The niner can also be used by praying the Our Father on the first set of 3 beads, the Hail Mary on the second set, and the Glory Be on the last set of 3 beads with a prayer to the saint and the Apostles Creed at either end.
Length: 24cm / 9.5 inches
Medal: 2.5cm / 1 inch tall
Crucifix: 4.5cm / 1.8 inches.
This little chaplet rosary feels cool & smooth in the fingers, and is suitable for men or women. It comes attractively wrapped along with a card of the prayers for this devotion.
