St Michael Niner, Pocket Rosary or Chaplet

This natural agate gemstone bead Saint Michael chaplet is made as a "niner" - a small rosary that has 9 beads set out in 3 groups of 3. One of the oldest forms of small rosaries, the niner has a long history in religious prayer beads. Originally made by monks as a way of earning money for the monastery, they have been popular for centuries.

The beads are 10mm nuggets of crazy lace agate, so called because of the patterns of cream, brown & grey in each bead. Between the groups of prayer beads are small light topaz Austrian crystals. All beads are linked with stainless steel rosary wire, so this is a chaplet built to last for years of prayer.

At one end is a medal of St Michael the Archangel, and at the other end is a distinctive pewter Jerusalem Cross which has the appearance of a piece from a bygone age.

Length: 29cm / 11.5 inches;
Cross: 3cm / 1.25 inches with loop.

The niner is popular in today's busy lifestyle as it is easy to slip into a pocket or bag to carry with you. This unique chaplet is made for years of personal prayer, and would make a thoughtful gift for another. A card with the traditional prayers is included.
