Silver pewter medal of St Mary Magdalene. Mary Magdalene (or Mary of Magdala) was one of Jesus' most celebrated disciples, and the most important female disciple.

Mary Magdalene is considered by the Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran churches to be a saint, with a feast day of July 22.

Her patronages include women, converts, penitent sinners, and those following a contemplative life - as well as chemists, glove-makers, tanners, hairdressers, perfumeries, reformed prostitutes and against sexual temptation.
