St Francis of Assisi Chaplet Rosary, San Damiano Cross
A chaplet is a small rosary, usually dedicated to a patron saint or a special purpose. This is a chaplet of St Francis of Assisi, who is the patron saint of animals, conservationists, environmentalists and zoos.
I've used 8mm Czech glass nugget beads in beautiful colors of the earth to reflect Saint Francis' love of God's natural world. The center medal shows St Francis on one side and the words "Pray For Us" on the back.
The layout is the traditional pattern for St Francis' chaplet, and this little rosary comes with a pamphlet of the traditional prayers. Saint Francis is one of the best known and loved of all saints, and he is revered in both the Catholic and Anglican churches.
The cross is known as the San Damiano cross, and it is the style of cross that Saint Francis was praying in front of when he received a command from God that he was to rebuild His church. The original cross is in the Basilica of Saint Clare in Assisi, Italy.
Length: 26cm (10.25 inches)
Cross: 3.75cm (1.5 inches)
This is a lovely chaplet for anyone with an affinity for Saint Francis, for the environment or for animals. It comes with the prayer card and is attractively wrapped.
