St Francis of Assisi Chaplet, Pope Francis Center & San Damiano Cross
Saint Francis of Assisi chaplet rosary, made in the traditional layout of beads for this devotion, and featuring medals of St Francis and Pope Francis, and a San Damiano cross.
The loop of prayer beads meets at a center medal of Pope Francis, with his Papal Crest on the back. The chaplet begins and ends with a San Damiano cross and a medal of Saint Francis of Assisi with the words "Pray For Us" on the back.
I've used Moroccan agate gemstone beads for the chaplet, laid out in the traditional pattern of 5 groups of 3 beads in the circle. This natural agate has soft earthy colors which remind me of the natural world which St Francis loved so much. The beads are 8mm round and are hand-linked with silver rosary so the chaplet drapes well in your hands.
St Francis of Assisi is one of the most loved religious figures of all time, and both the Catholic and Anglican churches pray for animals on his feast day, October 4. He is the Patron Saint of animals and pets, conservationists, zoos, animal welfare agencies and environmentalists among others. You can see more St Francis items here: St Francis Collection.
The San Damiano cross is a replica of the one St Francis was praying in front of when he received his commission from God to rebuild His church. The cross is known as an icon cross because besides the main figure it has images of other saints and people related to the scene of Christ’s crucifixion. The original cross hangs in the Basilica of Saint Clare in Assisi, Italy.
Length from mid-back to end of crucifix: 27cm / 10.5 inches

Suitable for men or women, this is a lovely chaplet for personal use, which would also make a thoughtful gift. It comes attractively wrapped with a card of the traditional prayers.
