St Catherine of Siena Medal - Patron Saint for Nurses
Oval pewter medal of Saint Catherine of Siena, the patron saint of nurses, women who have suffered miscarriage, sick people, temptation and against fire.
Saint Catherine of Siena was a tertiary of the Dominican Order (people living a life of Dominican faith in the secular world) and a Scholastic philosopher and theologian. St Catherine was one of the most brilliant theological minds of her day, although she never had any formal education. She was active and influential in politics which was very unusual for a woman of her times. Many of her letters were dictated, although she did learn to write in 1377 and 300 letters survive today.
Size: 2.5cm / 1 inch tall including loop.
