St Bernadette & Our Lady of Lourdes "Memories" Pocket Rosary, Pink Pearls
This single decade rosary - sometimes called a pocket rosary - features a medal of Saint Bernadette and Our Lady of Lourdes, along with a connecting ring stamped with the word "Memories". Saint Bernadette is a patron saint of healing, physical, emotional and spiritual, and a wonderful example of faith in the face of challenges.
I've used 8mm round Swarovski® pearls in a color called Powder Rose for the 10 Ave beads in the loop which meet at the ring. The single pater bead in the front is lampwork glass with pink flowers around the glass, and finished with tiny Swarovski crystals. A medal with St Bernadette on one side and Our Lady of Lourdes on the other side hangs from the center, and a "grapes and vine" crucifix begins and ends the rosary.
Length from mid-back to end of medal: 22cm (8.7 inches)
Medal: 2.5cm (1 inch)
This wee rosary is lightweight and feel smooth and gentle through the fingers, and is well made for many years of prayer.
In 1858 Our Lady appeared 18 times to Bernadette Soubirous, a young peasant girl from southern France. She revealed herself as the Immaculate Conception, asked that a chapel be built on the site of the vision, and told the girl to drink from a fountain that appeared in the grotto. Disbelieved by the people of her village, she suffered greatly.
Bernadette’s claims were eventually declared "worthy of belief" & the Marian apparition is now known as Our Lady of Lourdes. The site is now the most famous modern shrine of Our Lady. On December 8th 1933, Pope Pius XI declared Bernadette Soubirous a Saint of the Catholic Church.
