St Barbara Chaplet Rosary, Patron Saint Rosary

This chaplet is the Chaplet of Saint Barbara, a virgin martyr of the 4th Century who was imprisoned, tortured and put to death for her unwavering faith in Christ - her own father acting as her executioner. Chaplets are small rosaries, often dedicated to a favorite saint, which are used to add another dimension to prayer life.

I've used 10mm matte terra-rosa jasper gemstone beads for the chaplet, representing the stone of the tower in which St Barbara was imprisoned by her father. The loop of 14 beads meet at a center medal of the Blessed Mother and Child. St Barbara is often depicted carrying a chalice representing the Holy Eucharist and a palm branch or feather symbolizing martyrdom, and so the chaplet includes a feather as well as a medal of St Barbara.

The chaplet has a total of 17 beads. The first 3 are said in honor of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and represent the three windows in the tower St Barbara was imprisoned in. The 14 beads in the loop are said to the Blessed Mother; they are placed in this chaplet for St Barbara as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. A filigree lily crucifix completes the chaplet.

Length from mid-back to end of crucifix: 28cm / 11 inches
Center connector: 3cm / 1.2 inches
Feather & St Barbara medal: 2.5cm / 1 inch
Crucifix: 3.5cm / 1.4 inches tall
Beads: 10mm coins, 8mm rounds, natural terra-rosa jasper.

Saint Barbara is the patron saint of armorers, military engineers, gunsmiths, miners and anyone else who works with cannon and explosives. She is invoked against thunder and lightning and all accidents arising from explosions. She is venerated by Catholics who face the danger of sudden and violent death in work.

The chaplet comes attractively packaged along with a card of the traditional prayers.
