St Ann Chaplet - Beads of Saint Ann
The Beads of Saint Ann chaplet is a popular traditional chaplet honoring St Ann (Anne) the mother of the Virgin Mary. A lovely chaplet for mothers, grandmothers and expectant mothers.
St Ann has many other patronages as well as motherhood, including equestrians, lace makers, those in poverty and lost articles.
The gemstone beads in this wee rosary chaplet are a natural blue crystal called Kyanite. This unusual gemstone has 'chatoyancy', meaning the beads reflect light in different ways as the beads move.
There are 18 beads in total, along with a medal of Saint Ann at the centre of the loop. Ann was the mother of the Virgin Mary and so was her first teacher - in this medal she is shown with Mary at her side.
The small oval beads are laid out in 3 groups of 5 Hail Mary beads, with one set honoring each of Jesus, Mary and Anne. The coin-shaped Our Father beads are placed between the 3 sets of Hail Marys in the loop, and the 18th bead is the Our Father in the front chain. A tiny star Miraculous Medal of Mary and a pale blue enamel crucifix finish the design.
Length from center back to end of crucifix: 25cm / 10 inches;
Crucifix: 3.75cm / 1.5 inches tall;
Beads: 10mm oval & 8mm coin Kyanite gemstone.
This is a smaller-sized chaplet, lovely for personal use or for gifting. It comes with a card of the traditional prayers and will be attractively packaged.
