St Alphonsus Liguori, Patron Saint of Arthritis Medal
Round silver pewter medal of Saint Alphonsus Liguori with the words "Patron Saint of Arthritis" on the back.
St Alphonsus is the patron saint of those with arthritis, and is also patron of theologians and moralists. His name is also seen as Alphonsus de Liguori.
Alphonsus Liguori was a very well educated young man who became a lawyer. Tiring of the worldly life, he entered a religious order against his family’s wishes.
Ordained a priest at the age of 30, he lived his first years as a priest with the homeless young people of Naples. He went on to become a missionary, founded a religious order to work in the slums and among the poor, and was made a bishop in 1762. Nearly crippled with rheumatism, he retired, and died aged 91 in 1787.
Size: 2cm tall including the top loop.
The medal comes with a silver steel split ring through the top loop so it is ready to be used. You can see stainless steel neck chains that are a good color match here in my shop if you want to wear the medal as a pendant.
