Recovery Patchwork Pouch for your 12 Step Prayer Beads, Cards or Booklets
A unique handmade textile pouch for storing your Recovery beads, notebooks, cards and bits & pieces. A great one-of-a-kind treat for yourself to celebrate a new way of living, or the perfect gift for someone celebrating a recovery milestone or sobriety anniversary
I've made this small bag in the style of crazy-quilt patchworks, where fabrics are pieced together by hand and the seams decorated and embellished. It is lightly padded to keep your goodies safe, and large enough to hold a few items.
The theme for this pouch is "recovery", and the closure is a large bronze Unity symbol that does up with a wood toggle. This symbol of a triangle within a circle is important to many people in recovery - the triangle represents stability, creativity and doorways. The circle symbolizes serenity and protection - together these symbols stand for transformation.
I've used new and repurposed fabrics for the bag which is lined with a hard-wearing light canvas fabric. The outside seams are embellished with stitching and bronze chain detail. On the flap is a group of charms related to the Serenity Prayer - an dragonfly for serenity, and feather for courage and an owl for wisdom.
Width: 17cm / 6.75 inches across;
Height: 19cm / 7.5 inches when closed.
