Paua Shell Rosary Beads, New Zealand Abalone Shell

This uniquely New Zealand Catholic rosary is handmade by me using natural paua shell beads - New Zealand's beautiful iconic shell.

The vibrant colours in the paua shell used for these beads is only found in the cold southern waters of New Zealand which causes the shells to have iridescent purple, blue and pink interiors. Other countries have a different type of abalone shell, which is far paler.

I've used little oval double-sided paua beads for the Hail Marys in this rosary, each small bead is about 8mm x 10mm, and they are all separately linked with silver rosary wire.

The Our Father beads are larger paua hearts which are finished with wee Swarovski crystals for a touch of sparkle and then wire-wrapped for extra strength where needed most in the rosary.

The center medal of Our Lady is well-known as the Miraculous Medal, and the traditional crucifix is a "grapes & vine" style.

Length from center-back to end of crucifix: 60cm;
Crucifix: 4cm tall.

This is a lovely rosary for personal use which is lightweight and smooth in the hands. It comes in a handmade (by me) lined cotton pouch to keep it in and will be attractively wrapped.
