Our Lady of Lourdes is a venerated title of the Blessed Virgin Mary invoked by Catholics in honor of the Marian apparitions that occurred in 1858 in at a grotto near Lourdes, France. Our Lady appeared to a young peasant girl, Bernadette Soubirous and revealed herself as the Immaculate Conception.
Many people have experienced miracles of healing attributed to the spring waters of Lourdes, which has become the most famous modern shrine of Our Lady. In 1862 Church authorities confirmed the authenticity of the apparitions. The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes became worldwide in 1907.
Made in Italy from nickle and lead free pewter, and has the words "Pray For Us" on the back.
Size: 2.5cm tall including the top loop.
Your medal comes with a silver steel split-ring through the top loop so it is ready to use as a pendant or in a chaplet rosary.
