NZ Paua Shell Saint Michael Rosary
Paua shell rosaries are a unique design for traditional Catholic prayer beads, and this beautiful rosary has been made by me, Deborah, right here in New Zealand where the shell is found. Paua is only found in the cold southern waters of our Pacific country.
The Hail Mary beads are flat ovals, each about 10mm long. The Our Fathers are 12mm coin-shaped beads finished with tiny end caps and wee peacock blue Swarovski crystals. All the beads are double-sided and linked into the rosary with gold rosary wire, which means the rosary flows smoothly in your hands.
The center medal is a color image of Saint Michael the Archangel, with the Holy Face of Jesus in 3-D relief on the other side. The crucifix has arms ending in a 3-pointed lily design which symbolizes the Holy Trinity, and the 12 points in total represent the 12 Apostles who went out from the Cross to carry the Good News to the world.
Length when hanging: 63cm / 24.75 inches;
Center medal: 2.5cm / 1 inch;
Crucifix: 5cm /2 inches tall.
This rosary is lightweight and well-made for years of prayer. It would make a thoughtful gift, and comes in a handmade (by me) lined cotton rosary pouch to present it in.
