Mary, Queen of the Sacred Heart Medal Pendant, French

This is an absolutely gorgeous medal pendant. On one side is Mary, Queen of the Sacred Heart and on the other is an ornate fleur-de-lis. The fleur-de-lis (lily flower) has been regarded as a symbol of purity since antiquity. The Catholic Church adopted this symbol to represent the Virgin Mary, and it is widely used in religious art.

The French writing on the front and back reads:

Side 1 - "Queen of the Sacred Heart. Protect Our Children."
Side 2 - "Congregation of Children of Mary of the Sacred Heart Chartreux."
Size:  37mm / 1.5 inches tall by 32mm / 1.25 inches wide.
Metal: Pewter, Finish: 12k antiqued gold.

Suitable for use in a rosary or chaplet or for wearing as a pendant.

The Children of Mary Sodality was founded in the 1830s by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, founder of the Society of the Sacred Heart. It was then and continues to be now an important outgrowth of the mission of the Society.
