St Joan of Arc Medal
Oval pewter medal made in Italy showing Saint Joan of Arc on the front and the words "Pray For Us" on the reverse. Joan of Arc is the patron saint of France, martyrs, captives, military personnel and soldiers, people ridiculed for their piety, and prisoners.
Joan of Arc is a folk heroine of France and a Catholic saint. Born a peasant girl in what is now eastern France, she claimed divine guidance and led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years' War, paving the way for the coronation of Charles VII of France. She was captured by the Burgundians, transferred to the English in exchange for money, put on trial for charges of "insubordination and heterodoxy", and at 19 years old was burned at the stake. 25 years after her execution, an inquisitorial court authorized by Pope Callixtus III examined the trial, pronounced her innocent, and declared her a martyr. Joan of Arc was beatified in 1909 and canonized in 1920.
Size: 2.5cm (1 inch) including the top loop. Comes with a split ring through the loop on top so it is ready for use.
Looking for a neck chain to wear this medal? I have stainless steel chains that go well with the antiqued silver finished of the medal.
