Greenstone Rosary Beads, San Damiano Crucifix, Sacred Heart Center

This rosary is made with nephrite jade beads - or greenstone as we call this deep forest green jade - linked with bright silver rosary wire. This is a smaller-sized rosary, ideal for younger fingers or for adults who prefer a more compact rosary bead set.

I've used 6mm round jade beads for the decades of Hail Mary beads, and larger 8mm rounds for the Glory Be and Our Father beads. The beads are all separately hand-linked which gives very nice drape through the hands, and I've wire-wrapped the larger beads for extra strength where needed.

At the center of the rosary is an antiqued pewter medal of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with a little image of the Sorrowful Mother on the back.

The crucifix is known as the San Damiano cross, and is a copy of the cross that Saint Francis of Assisi was praying in front of when he received his commission from God to rebuild His church. It is an "icon cross" because besides the main figure, it has images of saints and other people related to the scene of Christ's crucifixion. The original cross hangs in the Basilica of St Clare in Assisi, Italy.

Length from mid-back to end of crucifix: 47cm / 18.5 inches;
Crucifix: 4cm / 1.6 inches.

This well-constructed rosary feels cool and smooth in the hands, and is well-made for regular personal use. It comes in a handmade lined cotton pouch to keep it in, so it is attractively presented if you are thinking of gifting it.
