Greenstone & Paua Single Decade Rosary

A single decade pocket rosary in greenstone (nephrite jade) and natural paua shell beads, handmade here in New Zealand. These  short rosaries are also known as pocket rosaries or decima rosaries.

I've used lovely glossy faceted 8mm round greenstone beads for the Hail Marys, and two oval paua shell beads for the Our Father prayer beads. All are hand-linked with silver rosary wire which is a nice strong construction method that will last for years years of prayer.

The center is the Fiat of Mary and Holy Spirit medal, which reveals Mary's obedience to God and her agreement to bear the child Jesus, with the Holy Spirit descending on the other side.

The wee rosary begins and ends with a silver pewter 5-star cross - there are 5 stars in this cross medal, each with 5 points. Like the 4-pointed star, the 5-pointed star symbol in Christianity is also known as the Star of Bethlhem and represents Jesus' birth and incarnation. Also known as the Epiphany Star, it is used frequently for church decoration during both the Advent and Christmas seasons.

Length: 26 cm / 10.3 inches;
Cross: 2.5cm / 1 inch.

This is a great smaller-size rosary for regular use, and easy to pop into a pocket or purse when you are on the move. It would make a thoughtful gift, and comes attractively packaged.
