Anglican Pocket Rosary, St Luke Medal, Jasper Beads / Christian Saint Prayer Beads
This Anglican pocket rosary (small set of prayer beads) is based on the Anglican rosary layout, designed as an aid to contemplative prayer. The wee rosary includes a medal of Saint Luke the Evangelist.
I've used 8mm round natural green jasper gemstone beads for the 7 prayer beads in the loop, plus 2 more for the introductory beads in front of the cross. The small gold pewter cross is double-sided, covered with vines & the dogwood rose symbols. A small gold-plated (anti-tarnish) medal charm of Saint Luke is attached.
The 2 front beads are the invitatory bead which is in a gold pewter frame - it's an invitation to prayer. The 2nd front bead is the cruciform bead (meaning "cross form"), a reminder to hold the cross at the center of prayerful thoughts.
Length: 20cm / 8 inches
Cross: 2.5cm / 1 inch
Medal: 15mm across.
St Luke,a physician at Antioch and a painter, became a convert of St Paul and afterwards his fellow laborer. Though not an eyewitness of Christ's life, he diligently gathered information from the Apostles and wrote his Gospel and the Book of Acts. St Luke shared the shipwreck & perils of St Paul's voyage to Rome, and was with him in his last days. He later died a martyr's death in Achaia.
He is credited as the first Christian iconographer, painting icons of the Virgin Mary from life, some of which exist to this day.
A prayer card accompanies the chaplet, which has prayers for this pocket rosary. You can of course substitute other prayers in keeping with your own prayer and meditation.
All my chaplets come in attractive packaging to brighten your day, or so they are ready for gift-giving.
