Paua Rosary, Handmade in New Zealand

A distinctive Catholic rosary in natural paua shell beads, handmade in New Zealand by me, Deborah. Each bead in this set is linked by hand with silver rosary wire, which means it flows smoothly through your hands as you pray the rosary.

The Hail Mary prayer beads are small double-sided oval paua shell beads, and the Our Father prayer beads are heart-shaped with tiny Swarovski crystals on top. This beautiful shell is found only in New Zealand where the cold Southern waters produce the remarkable iridescent colors this type of abalone shell is famous for.

The center connector is a small medal of Our Lady of Grace, and the rosary begins and ends with a Good Shepherd cross. This well-known cross shows Jesus as the Good Shepherd, holding a lamb with the rest of His flock gathered behind him. It is the style of cross chosen by Pope Francis to wear himself.

Length from center-back to end of crucifix: 60cm / 23.5 inches;
Crucifix: 4cm / 1.6 inches tall.
Beads: 10x8mm paua shell oval, 12mm paua shell hearts.

The rosary is lightweight & suitable for adults or children. Paua is sustainably farmed in New Zealand, and we are proud to support the local businesses who provide our beads.

This is a lovely rosary for personal use which is lightweight and smooth in the hands, and it would make a thoughtful and unique gift. It comes in a handmade (by me) lined cotton pouch to keep it in and will be attractively wrapped.

Our rosaries are well constructed for many years of prayer & are covered by our life-time guarantee on construction.
Please be aware that our rosaries are not guaranteed if worn around the neck as a necklace. This is simply because the length of a rosary means that there is a very high risk of it accidentally getting caught on something & being strained or weakened by sudden tugging. This is not a risk in normal use of a rosary for prayer.
