Renaissance Style Rosary, Maroon Pearls, Gothic Design

$62.50

The renaissance era spans the years 1300 to 1550, a time in history that also encompassed Gothic design. Many paternosters and rosaries from this period reflect the influence of gothic design, and I have incorporated some into this pearl rosary.

I'm not aiming to reproduce historic rosaries, but rather to revive beautiful religious design from the past. By using today's materials and techniques with yesterday's designs, my rosaries provide a link with the history of prayerful worship through the centuries.

Rosaries in the middle ages were often very large by today's standards, but lovely smaller ones were created too which inspired this modern update. I've used 6mm round maroon Swarovski pearls for the Aves, and black metal studded beads for the Paters. The Paters are accented with sparkling Swarovski crystals and the Aves are separated with tiny black glass beads.

In the center is a Gothic style connector, joining the loop of prayer beads into a circle of prayer. The front drop features 3 more pearls and 2 Paters, and a gunmetal grey Saint Benedict crucifix. St Benedict's famous ward (prayer of protection) sits behind Christ on the Cross, and the saint appears on the back.

Length from center back to end of cross: 48cm / 19 inches:
Crucifix: 3.75cm / 1.5 inches tall.

This is a reasonably compact and lightweight rosary which is suitable for men, women or children. It comes in a handmade renaissance-style pouch to store it in, and will be attractively wrapped.
