Infant of Prague Medal, Red Enamel Detail
Infant of Prague medal, traditional shaped style with red enamel detail on robes. Made in nickle & lead free pewter with antique silver finish. The Sacred Heart is on the reverse.
The history of the Infant Jesus of Prague started in the 17th century when a statue of the Infant Jesus was brought into Bohemia (now Czech Republic) and eventually was given to the Discalced Carmelites in Prague. Since then, the statue has remained in Prague and has drawn many devotees worldwide to go and honor the Holy Child. The exact origin of the Infant Jesus statue was not truly known, but historical sources point to a small 28cm high sculpture of the Holy Child with a bird in his right hand carved in around the year 1340.
Note that the medal could be smaller than the image on your screen - this is quite a small medal at 1.8cm (0.7") tall including the loop on top.
Comes with a silver-tone split ring through the loop so it is ready for use.
I have many different saint medals in stock and you can see them all in the Saints Medal Collection.
